Buru Sports Club has expanded its chances of securing a spot in the First Division, after beating Da Grande in the Dhivehi Premier League qualifications.
Buru, the champions of the Second Division this season, beat Da Grande in the qualifications round with a score of 3 – 1.
The team took the lead with a score by Jameel Jumail nearing the end of the first half.
However, Da Grande came up from behind with a score by Hugo Nicholas six minutes into the second half of the game.
Ahmed Wisam extended the lead for Buru with a second score.
The third goal was scored by Stefan Duric.
In order to secure a spot in the First Division, Buru will go up against Club Teenage, which Buru easily beat in the finals of the Second Division.
However, if Teenage wins the game, the team will secure a spot in the First Division.
Da Grande has a chance of securing a spot, if the team wins against Super United Sports (SUS) in the last qualifiers round.
The two teams who stand a chance to play in the Dhivehi Premier League of the next season are the two teams that attain the highest number of points in the league round amongst the four teams.
