Five individuals have been arrested for getting into violent fights in K. Himmafushi island of Kaafu atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the arrests were made in connection with two separate cases of violence.
As such, one was arrested for damaging property and inflicting damage on an operational guesthouse property , and four others were arrested, accused of provoking violence on the streets of the island.
The police institution revealed that they received reports of the damage to the guesthouse at around 03:45pm on Friday.
The individual is reported to have barged into the guesthouse and proceeded to damage the property, while tourists were inside the building.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case . The arrest was made under a court order.
Further, four more individuals were arrested for violent acts , including a 20-year-old, a 27-year-old, a 29-year-old and a 37-year-old.
Further investigations are currently underway into both cases.
