Reclamation operations are currently underway, as part of the land reclamation and shore protection project in Dhiggaru island of Meemu atoll.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the land reclamation and shore protection project in Dhiggaru island is well underway
Providing updates of the project to the public on Wednesday, MTCC revealed that the project has reached 57 percent progress overall.
Currently underway are reclamation operations, which have reached 68 percent completion.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to reclaim 25 hectares of land and construct a rock boulder revetment measuring 384 meters.
Further, the company will also be constructing a rock boulder breakwater measuring 287 meters.
The project is valued at MVR 121.8 million.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on 10 November 2020.
The land reclamation and shore protection of Dhiggaru island was mobilized on 20 March 2021.
