Ziyath and Adeeb’s testimony to be taken on the same day, hearing postponed

The hearing of the case regarding the transaction for the development of Felidhoo Atoll Aarah, former President Abdullah Yameen accepting bribe has been postponed.
The case will commence for president Yameen, along with Yoosuf Naeem.
The case is currently in the testimony phase.
For the hearing the testimony of former MMPRC managing director Abdullah Ziyath is set to be taken. However, the lawyer of Yoosuf Naeem, Hamza Latheef endorsed it.
Lawyer Hamza Latheef says, 2 witnesses giving a testimony regarding the same case, Abdullah Ziyath and Ahmed Adeeb’s testimony if taken on two separate days may give them the opportunity to discuss and forge testimonies based on the other. Yoosuf Naeem’s lawyer requested both testimonies be taken the same day.
President Yameen’s lawyers backed it up. And revealed that they had sent a letter requesting for the same on Sunday.
President Yameen’s lawyers said that they might have an animosity towards President Yameen. And requested the court to get rid of any chance to forge witness accounts.
Speaking on this the government lawyer said, the court taking testimony previously had decided to take one account from a witness and that the separate testimony had not been requested by the defendant.
However, the government agreed to the suggestion regarding the testimony.
Based on the government as well as the defendant pointed out the court judge Ahmed Shakeel had postponed the testimonies to the 30th of August.
Moreover, on the 18th and 23rd other testimonies are set to be taken.
The most recent hearing for this case was on 9th August. The hearing involved President Yameen’s close friend former MP Ahmed Nazim had testified against him.
