Body of missing tourist found at sea off CROSSROADS Maldives

The dead body of the tourist who went missing from CROSSROADS, has been discovered.

Officers of the second squadron of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)’ s Coast Guard, discovered the tourist’s body at sea.

Reports of the tourist, missing from a water villa at CROSSROADS’ SAii Lagoon Maldives, was received by the MNDF CG’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) at around 6:54am on Saturday.

Immediately after receiving the missing persons report, the MNDF Malé Area Coast Guard Second Squadron had dispatched a team of divers on its harbor craft speed boat at around 08:02am the same day.

The search and rescue operation continued until 09:36am when the body was discovered floating in the lagoon 1.33 nautical miles west of CROSSROADS.

The body was retrieved and taken to CROSSROADS, aboard the MNDF CG harbor craft at around 09:47am.

The deceased has been identified as an Australian native, 41 years of age.

The tourist was on vacation at CROSSROADS Maldives.
