A hefty quantity of alcohol and other contraband has been confiscated from a sea vessel that docked in the Maldives.

Maldives Customs Service revealed that the sea vessel that docked in the Maldives, arrived from Bangkok, Thailand.

As such, the vessel MV Jazeera Reefer which belong to MIFCO departed from Thailand on June 22, enroute to Kooddoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

Officials from the customs, jointly with officers from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) searched the vessel after being tipped off that the vessel contained contraband.

Officers confiscated a hefty quantity of alcohol and other contraband during the raid.

Further details of the confiscated items, have not been disclosed yet.
