President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has begun a two-day tour of two northern islands . The islands are Funadhoo Island in Shaviyani atoll and Holhudhoo Island in Noonu atoll.
The president departed on the trip, on Friday.
During his time in Funadhoo, the president will attend celebrations to mark the golden jubilee of Funadhoo School.
In Holhudhoo the president will join the diamond jubilee festivities of Meyna School during the visit.
President Solih is also scheduled to unveil a monument commemorating the 75th anniversary of Meyna School on Holhudhoo Island.
Further, the visits will see meetings held with the respective island councils as well as the members of the Women’s Development Committees (WDC), where discussions will be held regarding the incumbent administration’s development plans.
The president will also discuss issues facing the island residents, during the respective meetings.
A high-level delegation comprising of government officials, accompanies the president on the trip.
