The newly appointed Ambassador of Brazil to the Maldives called on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on Monday

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel has thanked the government of Brazil for the generous donation of vaccines.

He expressed his sentiments during a courtesy call, paid by the new Ambassador of Brazil to the Maldives Sergio Luiz Canaes on Monday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Congratulating the new ambassador on his appointment, the Maldivian state minister expressed gratitude to the Brazilian government for the generous donation of 82,390 doses of life-saving vaccines for children.

The vaccine will support the Maldivian government’s national immunization drive and are scheduled to arrive in the country, in the near future.

Discussions were also held on avenues for strengthening relations between Maldives and Brazil.

State Minister Khaleel and Ambassador Canaes also shed light on the strong cooperation between Maldives and Brazil in the multilateral fora.

The meeting was also joined by Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed and Desk Officer at the Foreign Ministry Saifulla Waleed.
