Statistics shows that the most was spent on water and sewerage development projects

The Maldivian Government has spent 1.8 billion rufiyaa on Public Service Investment Programs (PSIP), thus fur in 2022.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance on April 26, the Maldivian government has spent MVR 1.8 billion on PSIP, by April 21, 2022.

Statistics shows that the most was spent on water and sewerage development projects. As such a total of MVR 333.3 million was spent thus, this year.

These include MVR 266.6 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 10.8 million spent on sewerage system installation and MVR 55.9 million spent on water systems.

Ministry's statistics goes onto reveal that MVR 171 million was spent on housing and infrastructure projects, MVR 143.8 million on land reclamation, MVR 122.2 million on road construction and MVR 235.2 million on harbor development projects.

Additionally, the government has spent MVR 248 million on bridge development projects and MVR 22.3 million on airport development projects.

The government has so far spent; MVR 13.3 million on national security and public order, MVR 60.8 million on development of health services, MVR 113.3 million on education sector and MVR 228.3 million on environmental protection projects.

By April 21, 2022, the Maldivian Government's expenditure reached MVR 11.2 billion according to the Finance Ministry. As such, statistics show that the state spent MVR 7.7 billion as recurrent expenditure and MVR 2.8 billion as capital expenditure. 

The government has also spent MVR 681.1 million for loan repayment and MVR 149.9 million was transferred to the Sovereign Development Fund.

Ministry of Finance revealed that the state has received MVR 8.5 billion as revenue, so far this year.

The Ministry's statistics show that income generated from tax has reached MVR 5.9 billion. As such, the state received MVR 796.8 million as General Goods and Services Tax and MVR 2.5 billion as Tourism Goods and Services Tax. Moreover, MVR 1.2 billion was generated as Business and Property Tax.

While the sate earned MVR 797.2 million as Import Duties, statistics show that MVR 207.5 million was earned as Airport Service Charge.

The state received MVR 2.7 billion as Non-Tax Revenue, according to the Finance Ministry.

Statistics show that Maldivian state received MVR 5.4 million as capital receipts and MVR 80.7 million as Grants, so far this year.
