The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has revealed that the annual mass congregation for Eid-Al-Fitr prayer will be held alongside congregations in 27 mosques across the Greater Malé Region.
The ministry revealed that the Eid congregational prayer will be held this year, in mosques across the Greater Malé Region comprising of Malé, Hulhumalé and Villimalé just like previous years.
Eid-Al-Fitr falls on May 2 this year, marking May 1 the last day of Ramadan 1443.
The Eid-Al-Fitr prayers will be held in the following mosques:
- Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaan Auzam
- Masjid Maliki Salman
- Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Bin Abdulla
- Masjidul Furqan
- Masjidul Noor
- Masjidul Shaheed Ali
- Masjidul Sultan Hassan Izzuddeen
- Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Fareedul Awwal
- Masjidul Shaheed Abdul Rahman
- Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddin
- Masjidul Salaahuddin
- Masjidul Jalaaluddin
- Masjid Ibrahim
- Masjid Iskandar
- Vaguthee Miskiy (Boduge)
- Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Imaaduddin
- Masjid Sheikh Mohamed Jameel Didi

The ministry has allocated three regions for the annual mass congregation for Eid-Al-Fitr; Maafannu Stadium, Villimalé Football Stadium and Hulhumalé Stadium.
Further, the ministry has urged the people to perform their Wudu or ablution at home and carry their own water bottles, prayer mats and a non-plastic bag to carry their slippers, when they attend the congregation or the mosque .
The government has been holding mass congregations at stadiums for many years now , with the first one held in 2012. Eid prayers are performed in congregation twice a year during Eid-Al-Adha and the Eid-Al-Fitr, the latter marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan which is celebrated by Muslim communities globally.
Performing the Eid prayer in congregation is a holy practice among the Muslim communities.
