Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed has been replaced as Foreign Secretary, upon his appointment as Ambassador-at-Large.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Sunday.
As such, Ahmed Latheef replaces his predecessor Ghafoor as Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from Sunday onwards.
Ahmed Latheef earlier served as the Ambassador of the Maldives to the Federal Republic of Germany prior to this appointment.
