Maldives remains committed to maintain the partnership with Pakistan for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries, says Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

FM Shahid on Thursday sent a congratulatory message to the newly appointed Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

In his message, the Maldivian Foreign Minister expressed pleasure in extending his heartfelt and warmest congratulations on the new Pakistani Foreign Minister’s appointment.

Further, FM Shahid noted that Maldives and Pakistan have enjoyed more than five decades of diplomatic relations and close bonds based on shared faith, values and mutual respect.

With this being said, he reiterated the government’s commitment to maintain the partnership between the two countries for the mutual benefit of the people.

FM Shahid also expressed eagerness to work closely with the newly appointed Foreign Minister of Pakistan and the Pakistani government to further enhance relations in both bilateral and multilateral spheres.
