Japan has been a reliable developmental partner for the Maldives, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The vice president made this remark on Monday, during talks held with the Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Takeuchi Midori at the President’s Office.
During the ambassador’s call, discussions were held on the longstanding bonds of friendship between Maldives and Japan.
As such, VP Naseem stated that Maldives has an excellent working relationship with Japan and stated that Japan has been a reliable developmental partner for the Maldives. VP Naseem also extended gratitude to the government of Japan for its continuous assistance provided in times of need.
The meeting also saw the Japanese Ambassador highlighting that economic diversification, environment and climate change as well as disaster management are critical focus areas in working with the government of Maldives.
The Ambassador of Japan presented her Letters of Credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 20 January 2022.
The ambassador has expressed hope to further strengthen bilateral ties and work together on regional and global issues at a time the two countries mark the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2022.
Diplomatic Relations were established between the two countries in 1967.
