President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has departed to Hinnavaru island of Lhaviyani atoll.
The President departed on the unofficial visit to his home island on Friday.
Further details of the trip have not been disclosed by the President’s Office.
The President’s first official trip to his home island since assuming office in November 2018, was in February 2022.
He has conducted an unofficial visit to Hinnavaru during 2019 as well, on a campaign trip during the parliamentary elections.
During his most recent trip to his home island, the President announced a number of development plans for the island.
The projects to construct a new powerhouse in Hinnavaru, network upgrade as well as the one to establish a football ground in the island were completed recently.
Currently, the government is preparing to mobilize several projects in the island including harbor upgrade, establishing a safe waste management system, tarring roads and constructing a 30-bed hospital.
The President will conclude his unofficial visit to Hinnavaru and return to Malé City on Saturday.
