President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with members of the Musicians’ Union of Maldives on Tuesday evening.
At the meeting held at the President’s official residence, Mulee’aage, both the parties discussed ways to further develop the industry.
As such, the members of Musicians’ Union shared the situation of local musicians, artists, and other industry stakeholders with the President. They discussed ways the administration could assist in alleviating the challenges faced by the industry.
The members raised concerns regarding the lack of space for artists to practice and conduct shows. They also shared the financial constraints and a lack of a proper workplace faced by the association.
Additionally, they shared difficulties faced by artists performing in resorts, as well as other challenges the music industry of Maldives faces.
President Solih assured the members of the administration’s commitment to address the concerns raised. He stated that the administration would seek ways to increase local and foreign opportunities for the artists.
The President went on to discuss ways the administration could facilitate the union in promoting and developing the industry further.
