President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his six-island tour of Lhaviyani atoll.
He departed on the three-day tour on Friday afternoon and returned on Sunday afternoon.
The islands the president covered throughout the tour are Madivaru, Naifaru, Olhuvelifushi, Kurendhoo as well as the President’s home island Hinnavaru and also Felivaru, where he visited the fish canning factory.
Further, the President conducted meetings with the community leaders of the islands, including members of the atoll council, local councils, Women’s Development Committees as well as management and staff of public institutions in the islands.
The President also observed the progress of development projects underway in the islands and officially inaugurated the newly developed airport in Madivaru.
He also inaugurated Madhrasathul Ifthithaah’s new extension building, housing 10 classrooms, an audio-visual room, and a staff room in Naifaru Island.
In Naifaru the president attended a ceremony held to hand over the newly built 100 housing units to the island council.
A delegation of high-level government officials accompanied the President on the trip.
