The members of the Lhaviyani Atoll Council have expressed satisfaction with the socio-economic development of the atoll.
As part of his short six-island tour of Lhaviyani atoll over the weekend, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sat down with the Lhaviyani Atoll Council members on Saturday.
The meeting saw the councilors sharing their views on the best use of the lagoons and reefs in the region and presenting the president with a paper that outlined the most pertinent needs of the atoll including the need for a vocational education and training institute, atoll-level waste management and the improvement of healthcare services.
Further, President Solih also discussed housing and job creation concerns with the councilors.
President Solih assured the councilors that the administration remains committed to work with the relevant authorities and agencies to address the concerns at hand.
The president also toured the new office building of Naifaru Island Council as part of the visit to the island.
A delegation of high-level government officials accompanied the president during the trip.
