Discussions have been held on avenues to boost cooperation between Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Bangladesh Army.
This was done during a meeting held between the Minister of Defence and National Security of Maldives, Mariya Ahmed Didi and Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on Wednesday, as part of the latter’s ongoing visit to Maldives.
The meeting saw Minister Mariya and General Shafiuddin engaging in discussions revolving around the provision of training and capacity-building opportunities for MNDF, in several fields.
According to the ministry, the talks were met with a “very” positive response from General Shafiuddin, who affirmed that the Bangladesh Army will continue its special partnership and cooperation with MNDF.
The meeting also saw the Maldivian minister extending gratitude to General Shafiuddin and the Bangladeshi delegation he led on the visit.
The meeting was joined by Military Secretary Brigadier General Abdul Matheen Ahmed, DIDC’s Principal Director LTC Ahmed Shareef and LTC Hassan Bushry.
