The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) remains committed to continue supporting and assisting the Maldives tackle and achieve its climate objectives.

This was assured by the Chief Executive Officer of GCA, Dr Patrick Verkooijen who paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday.

The call saw the pair engaging in extensive discussions regarding the Maldives’ climate change adaptation efforts.

As such, the president outlined the ambitious plans of the government to combat climate change and expressed that the government required cooperation and assistance from international partners, especially in gaining access to finance for climate adaptation.

Briefing the Maldivian president on GCA’s ongoing negotiations and working partnership with the Maldives and other international partners on climate change adaptation, Dr Verkooijen revealed that GCA is providing a concrete work schedule of initiatives to meet President Solih's vision of climate objectives.

With this being said, the GCA CEO assured that GCA will continue to support and assist the Maldives in tackling and achieving its climate objectives.

The Netherlands-based international organization works as a solutions-broker to accelerate, innovate, and scale adaptation action for a climate-resilient world.
