Pres. confers Order of Dignified Rule of Kalaafaanu on Secretary-General of the Muslim World League

The Order of the Dignified Rule of Kalaafaanu has been conferred on the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa.

The order was presented to the Secretary-General of MWL during a special ceremony held at the President’s Office, by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday.

The honorable order was conferred to Dr Mohammed Al-Issa to recognize his exceptional contributions to strengthening ties between the Maldives and the Muslim World League, preserving Islamic Unity as well as efforts to promote global peace and harmony.

The Order of the Dignified Rule of Kalaafaanu is dedicated to Sultan Ibrahim III (Kalaafaanu) Siree Sudhdha Mahaa Radhun who reigned over the Maldives from 1585 to 1609.

The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League arrived in the Maldives on an official visit on Sunday upon the invitation of the Maldivian president.

He was received at the Velana International Airport by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and senior officials at the foreign ministry.

The agenda of his trip includes meetings with the Maldivian president, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Zahir as well as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense and National Security, Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Also known as the Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami, the MWL is an international Non-Governmental Organization which strives to clarify the true and moderate principles of Islam to the world since inception in 1962.

MWL is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
