The government has constituted the Maldives Hydrographic Service.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih established the authority on Wednesday and it comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense and National Security.
The new authority was established under the powers vested in the president by Section 116 of the Maldives constitution.
A directive issued by the President’s Office on Wednesday reads that the number 487 should be used in all correspondence addressed to the new authority in accordance with the numbering system for state agencies.
