President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met Dhiffushi Island Council on Sunday

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has shared the government’s plan to reclaim land in Dhiffushi island of Kaafu atoll, with the island council.

Members of the island council met the president at the President’s Office on Sunday, where they discussed the most pressing issues and needs of the island community.

Shedding light on the challenges facing the island community due to coastal erosion and the lack of a water and sewerage system in the industrial zone, the island council went on to discuss the need for land reclamation and upgrading healthcare services, including laboratory and ambulance services.

Dhiffushi councilors went on to highlight the need for a multi-purpose hall for the island school and the introduction of higher secondary education, while speaking on the development of the education sector.

Further, discussions also revolved around the need for a new mosque and police services to be introduced in the island, as well as the project to develop the island’s football stadium.

The meeting saw President Solih sharing the progress and latest updates on the ongoing and planned development projects for Dhiffushi.

He also assured that the coastal protection work and the land reclamation will be completed, adding that the government will also provide ambulances and establish police services in accordance with the ongoing plans.

The president also assured the councilors that the administration will seek ways to address their concerns.
