The government values public opinion and sentiments in carrying out urban development projects, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

He said this while speaking at the ceremony to inaugurate the new harbor on Landhoo Island of Noonu atoll, as part of his two-day tour of five islands in the atoll.

As such, speaking further a proud president highlighted that two of many pledges made by the administration to the Landhoo community, have been delivered..

As such, the new harbor in Landhoo Island was completed to the requirements of the residents according to the president.

Shedding light on the multiple development projects undertaken by the administration, the president stated that the administration strives to complete the development of 128 harbors by the end of his five-year term, already having completed harbor development projects in 25 islands to date. Harbor development projects are underway in 39 more islands currently.

The president opened the new mosque on Landhoo Island on Tuesday as well.

As such, the mosque that opened in Landhoo on Tuesday had an initial capacity of 300, said the president, who noted that it was later revised to accommodate 500 worshippers, upon the request of the island community.

He also highlighted the many other projects planned for the progress of the island.

Speaking further on the efforts to ensure social harmony, the president stated that the recently constituted National Taskforce is working restlessly to combat the drug trade and drug abuse and that results will be observed around June.

The president was presented with a special plaque by the island council during the ceremony.
