Councilors and members of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Landhoo Island in Noonu atoll have shared the pertinent issues and needs of the island community with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
As part of his two-day tour of five islands in Noonu atoll, the president arrived in Landhoo island as the second destination on Tuesday afternoon.
Upon arrival he met with the island councilors and WDC members and engaged in discussions regarding the need for a dockyard, sporting facilities for the youth, a proper waste management facility, an outdoor gym for women as well as improving healthcare services.
The meeting also saw the council members highlighting that the administration’s decision to redesign the harbor of the island to cater to the wishes of the people mirrors the government’s commitment to serve the needs of the island community.
Shedding light on the updates on the island’s developmental plans, the president stated that the administration accorded priority to delivering on the wishes of the people, despite a drawn-out harbor development project.
Assuring them that the administration will seek ways to address their concerns, the president added that the project to develop a new football stadium on the island will also be expedited.
