The new Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Maldives Alan L. Deniega has held discussions with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih regarding climate change and vulnerabilities.

During a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday afternoon, the new Philippine Ambassador presented his credentials to the Maldivian president.

Following the ceremony, the pair engaged in discussions revolving around topics of shared concern including the situation surrounding the global Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, vulnerabilities as well as people-to-people contact.

Congratulating the new ambassador on his appointments, the president extended warm wishes to the people and president of Philippines Rodrigo Duterte, on behalf of the Maldivian government and people.

Expressing gratitude to the Maldivian government for the hospitality and assistance extended to the Filipino community residing in the Maldives, the ambassador expressed keenness to working as the non-resident ambassador to Maldives.

The meeting saw President Solih expressing hope that the partnership between Maldives and Philippines will continue to grow in the future.
