Former deputy mayor of Male' City, Samah Rasheed has joined opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
His form was presented during a ceremony held on Friday, to acting leader of the opposition coalition comprising of PPM and People's National Congress (PNC), Abdul Raheem Abdulla; Abdul Raheem is also the president of PNC.
Samah, formerly a member of main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), had contested in the 2011 council elections on a MDP ticket.
In addition to Samah, forms of others who recently joined PPM were handed to Abdul Raheem at Friday's ceremony.
The ceremony was one of the biggest event held by PPM recently.
The opposition claims that they will continue to work for the citizens' their rights, without a halt. However, Friday's event comes after a long hiatus.
