Citizens' opinions being sought on land reclamation project to transform Kudagiri Falhu into a picnic island
A report on the level of environmental damage incurred, is being compiled.
The project includes land reclamation of two islands in Kudagiri, which is 10.5 km far from Male City.
The citizen’s opinions are being sought via survey.

Citizen’s opinions being sought on the land reclamation project to develop Kudagiri Falhu into a picnic island.

Citizen’s opinions will be sought through a survey.

This survey is being conducted to be included in the Environmental Impact Assessment report being compiled prior to the commencement of the project as the picnic island will be used by Greater Male citizens.

The main purpose of the survey is to collect citizen’s thoughts and concerns on the venture, as well as to inform them about the benefits of such a project. Moreover, the data collected in the survey will solely be used in the EIA report, and complete anonymity of those taking part is assured.

The consultant of Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for this development, is Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

Kudagiri falhu - RaajjeMV

The project comprises of land reclamation of two islands in Kudagiri, which is 10.5 km away from Male City. This includes eight hectares which can be renovated into a picnic island and 1.5 that can be made into a sandbank. Revetment works will also take place in order to protect the area, and the sand material required for construction will be obtained from Maldivian atolls.
