Ooredoo Maldives has launched an exciting new social media contest, under the destination marketing campaign the company launched in partnership with Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Tourism Ministry and Orca Media Group during 2020.

In a press release, the telecommunications provider revealed that the social media contest invites the public to share their “favorite” parts of the Maldives with the entire globe, to stand a chance to win “fun” stays at guesthouses. Launched on Sunday, the contest will proceed until December 2021.

During September 2020, Ooredoo Maldives launched the destination marketing campaign across the Maldives, titled ‘Visit Maldives Now’, reaching its international network across 117 million people in 10 countries globally.

The contest was launched with an aim to boost the country’s visibility among zealous travelers and encourage the globe to visit the country. Ooredoo revealed that the contest aims to create awareness and feature the hidden beauty of Maldives as well as creating user-generated content that will enable travelers to view the island nation, through the “lens of a local”.

To enter, all participants have to do is share photos or videos from across the Maldives that reflect the month’s theme, with the hashtag #VistMaldivesNow.

Specified themes are designation for each month, alongside special and exciting prizes for winners. Ooredoo Maldives revealed that each photo, or video will be considered a separate entry, with this being said participants may enter more than once to increase their chances of winning.

Monthly winners will be selected via draws.

The telecom giant added that the first theme revolves around the traditions and culture of the Maldives, including local food, arts, crafts, history, heritage and traditions.

The lucky winner will be offered a free, two-night holiday at Jupiter Sunrise Hotel in Vaavu Keyodhoo for two.

Under the campaign launched last year, consumers of Ooredoo’s international network will get the opportunity to discover picturesque and mesmerizing content of the tropical paradise destination through Ooredoo’s media partners on social media platforms.

Ooredoo Maldives noted that the travelers who comment and share the social media posts stand a chance to win hotel stays and miscellaneous gifts. Due to the ever-changing situation of the coronavirus pandemic, MMPRC has been adapting and conducting marketing activities through digital platforms to expand destination marketing.
