Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings and India’s ATK Mohun Bagan had arrived in the Maldives for the AFC Cup - South Group D matches.
Both teams are in Group D together with Maldives' Maziya Sports and Recreation Club and India's Bengaluru FC who secured the last spot in the group after winning Sunday's playoff match against Club Eagles.
The AFC Cup Group D matches will be held across three match days; on August 18, 21 and 24, with the eventual group leaders advancing to the single-leg Inter Zone Semi-final.
The matches were initially scheduled for May, but were subsequently delayed after Bengaluru FC players violated Maldives' Covid-19 protocols which led to a delay of the playoff game. At the time of postponement, the remaining clubs were preparing to travel to the island nation.
While the matches were delayed indefinitely, AFC back in July announced the decision to host the AFC Cup - South Group D matches in Maldives.
Maldives had also won the host the Group E games in the AFC Cup 2020, however, these matches were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
