Opportunity open to apply for vacancy at Maldives Media Council
 
The resigned member was Mohamed Yaameen Ibrahim.
 
The opportunity was opened following the resignation of a member on the council.
 
Maldives media council currently consists of 15 members.

A seat has opened up at the Maldives Media Council (MMC), following the resignation of member Mohamed Yameen Ibrahim.

While Yameen was elected to the council as an independent member, he was later appointed to the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) as secretary general.

Those that are interested in the vacancy at MMC have been asked to send in applications before 1:30pm on August 17 to the Ministry of Home Affairs, with all required documents.

The Maldives Media Council comprises of 15 members; eight from the media and seven members from the public.

While the last MMC election was held last December, all current members were elected then.

The first media council election was held on 28 April 2010, and according to the regulations of MMC, a term of a member is two years. It also states that one cannot serve two terms consecutively.
