For the first time in history, an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival is set to be held in the Maldives.
The 'Iyash Maldives' production is at its final stages, organizers aim to bring in at least 1,500 tourists to what will become 'one of the biggest events in the tourism industry'.
The three-day festival is to be held in November this year, however, an official date is yet to be announced.
Iyash Maldives' Managing Director Ali Iyash told RaajjeMV that this festival would be completely different from most events held to promote Maldives tourism and that a lot of "new things" can be expected.
This festival aims to attract more youth tourists by showcasing Maldives as a fun, activities-filled destination.
While Maldives is known as a romantic destination, Iyash said that the EDM festival will prove how things have changed over the years.
While light shows, water shows and water sports events are to be showcased at this festival, separate areas will be dedicated to each event so participants can take part in any activity of their liking.
Iyash also stated that the 1,500 tourists being brought in to the Maldives are required to adhere by the rules set by Health Protection Agency (HPA) and complete two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
While the ongoing work is related to obtaining the required permits to hold the event, organizers are also working to showcase more local talent at the festival; those who are interested have been asked to message the Facebook page of Iyash Maldives or e-mail, [email protected].
