Ministry of Education has informed schools that teachers traveling into the Maldives for the new academic year must quarantine for five days upon arrival.
The inbound travelers’ quarantine conditions have been drastically changed by Health Protection Agency (HPA). Therefore, persons who are fully vaccinated, as well as those who tested positive for Covid-19, recovered and have a PCR test taken prior to 60 days, can now enter the Maldives without needing to quarantine at all.
Despite these changes, Ministry of Education has informed all schools that teachers traveling to Maldives from a foreign country, must quarantine at their respective residences for a limit of five days.
The Ministry adds that a PCR test will be done when the five days are up, and that the quarantine will be complete once the sample tests negative.
Ministry of Education created this rule in light of the approaching academic new year, which begins on the 10th of August. It is believed that this will create a safer environment for students to focus in.
The ministry further stated that the decision of a five-day quarantine for teachers was concluded upon discussion with HPA. They added that schools have been asked to monitor the wellbeing of teachers closely.
