A loud explosion was heard in the capital's suburban district Hulhumale' early Friday morning.
While the explosion occurred in Bougainvillea Magu around 12:15am on Friday, police officers arrived at the scene immediately and cordoned off the area.
This area has since been reopened, however, police is yet to reveal any details including where the sound originated from.
It did say that no individuals have been reported injured in the incident.
An eyewitness told RaajjeMV that the sound was deafening and that a flame was seen at the same time.
Security officers have been on high alert, especially since May, when Speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb in the congested capital.
