Tourism Minister, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has urged to notify the ministry about any issues regarding service charges in resorts.

The minister said this at a press conference held on Thursday, where he highlighted that the issue comes up frequently.

He added that the ministry is working closely with the employees to find a solution.

The minister further highlighted that since financial transfers are now mostly done online, that information would be easy accessible for employees in order to estimate the income the resort would receive, thereby, able to notice issues related to service charge.

Mausoon said that such issues must be reported to the ministry.

Noting that service charge is related to the resorts’ incomes, the minister stated that he intends on increasing service charge rate to ensure locals receive a fare wage for all the hard work they do.
