Fifth Tourism Master Plan will be launched this month: Minister Mausoom

The work of the Fifth Tourism Master Plan was launched by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 2019

Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom

Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated that the Fifth Tourism Master Plan will be launched in January.

Speaking in the Falasurukhee program of RaajjeTV, Minister Mausoom stated that the ministry will give high priority to achieve the targets noted in the master plan, once its launched. He stated that the draft of the plan is completed.

The work of the Fifth Tourism Master Plan was launched by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 2019. The Tourism Minister at the time was Ali Waheed.

Back then, the Tourism Ministry has stated that the objective of the master plan is to develop the tourism sector and increase the involvement of Maldivian women in the industry, as well increase the training opportunities and job opportunities.

Additionally, the Ministry also aimed to refine the laws and regulation related to tourism in Maldives and find a way to hold the earnings from tourism, within the Maldivian ecnomy.

The Ministry also stated that the plan would be used to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the Maldives.

Furthermore, the Ministry also stated that developing the cultural and historical tourism would also be included in the master plan.

The Ministry will also be including ways to protect the environment in a sustainable manner while also increasing the usage of energy in a sustainable manner.

Moreover, the plan would also include ways to further advertise Maldives in the international arena.

Tourism Ministry stated that the Fifth Tourism Master Plan's main objective is to develop the policies needed for the future of Maldives tourism based on research and discussions.

The Ministry highlights that these policies will be fixed prioritizing sustainable tourism.

The last tourism plan was put together and launched during former President Abdulla Yameen's tenure . The Minister of Tourism at the time was Ahmed Adeeb.
