The expatriate arrested over sexually abusing a child, has been remanded pending the outcome of his trial.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the Criminal Court ordered for the man, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national was remanded pending sentencing on Sunday.
The man is accused of sexually abusing an eight-year-old.
The police division consisting within Gnaviyani and Seenu atolls received the case on June 24.
Further investigations are currently underway.
Maldives has been reporting frequent cases of child abuse, with the police institution assuring the public that such cases are investigated as "serious" cases.
