The government of Maldives has refuted reports of the authorization of flights between Israel and Maldives.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation released a statement in response to the reports on plans to authorize air travel between both countries, affirming that they are baseless and false.
Further the authority revealed that the government is yet to engage in discussions on allowing any airline to conduct flights between Maldives and Israel, let alone authorize any airline to fly from Israel to Maldives.
The authority highlighted that no such agreements have been signed with any airline, allowing travel between the two countries.
An Israeli news outlet cited an Israeli travel agency, Caminos having announced upcoming scheduling of direct flights via Air Seychelles. As such, the travel agency is to have revealed that five direct flights will be operated every Monday from September 6 to October 4.
Tourist from Israel have been travelling to the Maldives, through Air Seychelles transiting to Dubai.
By April this year, a total of 1,414 Israeli tourists have been welcomed in the Maldives.
