Thousands thronged the Athletics Track in Hulhumalé to welcome the New Year 2022 and wave goodbye to a seemingly long 2021 on Friday night. The celebration, organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to kick off the new year ‘Maldives’ style, began with a rousing concert, followed by a grand display of fireworks. The music show featured local talents such as Maldivian Idol runner-up and celebrated vocalist Shalabee Ibrahim and many others. Famous Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari who joined the celebration, enthralled the crowd with his melodious and soulful voice during Friday’s New Year celebration.
