The Maldives capital Malé City experienced heavy rainshowers early Sunday and it caused the city to flood. Officers of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) were active in draining the flood water.

Malé City lockdown - Night Two
While Maldives' congested capital, Malé City, was placed under a 24-hour lockdown on Wednesday following the discovery of a positive Covid-19 case in the city, this was extended by another 24 hours. Two new positive cases from the capital were announced since, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the city to five.

All schools across the Maldives have opened with the commencement of the academic year 2020.

National Day 2019
A ceremony was held to mark this year's National Day, on Monday night, while a flag hoisting ceremony was held early Tuesday morning. National Day (Gaumee Dhuvas) is observed annually on the 1st of Rabee ul Awwal (which falls on October 29 this year) to celebrate the victory of Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al Auzam over the Portuguese occupation in the year 1573.
