Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is a not-for-profit international membership association working towards responsible development of travel and tourism to in the Asia Pacific Region.
Minister Mausoom was elected to PATA's Executive Committee in an online vote, and was elected for a two-year term beginning 29 April 2021.
The Maldivian government and private parties working in the tourism industry are in active collaboration with PATA to mitigate the economic impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
There are 32 Chapters in the Asia Pacific Region created in support of PATA, with top industry-leader H. Ladybirdge, Abdulla Giyas acting as the Chair of the PATA Maldives Chapter.
PATA most recently announced the appointment of Liz Ortiguera as its new Chief Executive Officer, in succeeding Dr. Mario Hardy, whose term with PATA will close at the end of May. Liz Ortiguera with be the first Asian American CEO of PATA in the association's history.
The present Chair of the PATA Executive Board is the CEO of Singapore's Asia China Pvt. Ltd., Soon-Hwa Wong.
