President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Ali Majid, M. Hiyama, as the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.
Ali Majid has previously served a council member for Noonu Atoll. Prior to his appointment, Majid had been working independently in the fields of interior design and project management. With multiple past business involvements at the top-level, Ali Majid was the Managing Director of Nothern Utilities Limited, and was also the General Manager for companies such as Planktons Beach Hotel and Sunrise Private Limited.
Ali Majid has acquired a Diploma in Business Management from Mandhu College, and has a past certificate in tourism after having completed a Travel and Tour Operations Course.
While the incumbent Solih administration operates with several ministries across key sectors for the Maldives, aside from the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, all ministries have more than one deputy minister. As President Solih has now appointed Ali Majid as the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, he is presently the only Deputy Minister at the ministry, which is headed by Minister Zaha Waheed.
