The parliamentary committee on national security and foreign relations approved her appointment to the post a week earlier, after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih forwarded her appointment to the IMO as Maldives' permanent representative to the People’s Majlis.

In its report, the parliament committee noted that members who took part in its fifth meeting held on February 23, unanimously voted in favor of Dr. Farahanaz’s appointment.
