Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has departed to Chennai, India to take part in the “India Today Conclave-South”.

The minister departed to the neighboring country on an official visit on Thursday, revealed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via a statement.

During his visit, the minister will be giving a speech at the “Neighborhood Navigation: The Common Water: Old Ties, New Strategies” session.

The session will also be joined by General Vijay Kumar Singh, the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Former Minister of State for External Affairs of India. Further, Dinesh Gunawardena, the Minister of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka will also be joining the session virtually.

FM Shahid expressed keenness to engage in interesting conversations and perspectives during the session.

This will be the fourth edition of “India Today Conclave-South” and is to be held in Chennai, where a number of speakers will participate to voice their perspectives to help make sense of the “fast-changing” socio-political developments in the region.

The “India Today Conclave-South” will explore the role the south of India plays in the country’s overall progress, as well as the potential it has, socio-economically.
