Maldives admires the New Zealand government’s excellence in handling the global Covid-19 pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.
In a message offering congratulations to the Prime Minister on her re-election to office, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that the New Zealand’s Labour Party’s victory reflects how effectively PM Ardern has risen to the “challenges of leadership”.
Further he noted that the entire globe praises the New Zealand’s government’s excellence in handling the global pandemic and that Maldives joins in expressing admiration.
The president went on to express keenness to heighten the friendly partnership between the governments of both countries, as PM Ardern’s new term begins.
Solih stated that he has “no doubt” that the coming years will witness that partnership continue to flourish.
New Zealand’s Labour Party won the vote by 49 percent whereas the conservative National Party fell behind with 27 percent in the elections. Following the victory, PM Ardern stated that its margin had exceeded their expectations.
