An individual has been fined for breaching the rules of home quarantine.
This is the first time a fine has been imposed for violating the home quarantine rule, revealed the Maldives Police Service. The fine was imposed under the new amendment brought to the quarantine guidelines.
MPS revealed that fined was a 39-year-old man in home quarantine in Guraidhoo island of Kaafu atoll.
He was fined by MVR 2,500.
The quarantine rule states that those who violate the order to go into home quarantine will face a fine of up to MVR 5,000.
Further, it mandates authorities to fine individuals by MVR 2,500 if they refuse to go into home quarantine, the first time. They will be fined by MVR 3,500 if they repeat it every time that follows will see a MVR 5,000 fine.
Police continue to urge those who go into quarantine or isolation, to respect the guidelines and cooperate with authorities.
