Covid-19: eight patients in ICU, three on ventilator support
Two facilities in outlying atolls are providing treatment for patients as well
166 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment
1,365 are being treated at isolation facilities

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has revealed that eight Covid-19 patients are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, with three placed on ventilator support.

The center’s spokesperson, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq revealed this during Wednesday night’s press briefing, adding that four coronavirus-stricken patients are currently being treated in intensive care at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital, out of which two are on ventilator support.

Nazla went on to reveal that five patients are currently being treated at the ward on the 16th floor and one patient on the 20th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital.

Hulhumalé Medical Facility is currently treating 149 patients in the ward and four patients in ICU, with one placed on ventilator support.

Further, the spokesperson revealed that one patient has been admitted at the Covid-19 facility in Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll while two are receiving treatment at the Covid-19 facility in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

While 1,365 had been receiving treatment for the virus at isolation facilities, Nazla revealed that 81 patients had been released within the past 24 hours.

Maldives established a number of treatment facilities across the scatter of atolls due to the spread of the virus. The transit facility located in Ihavandhoo island in Haa Alif atoll has three beds in ICU and the facility in Funadhoo island of Shaviyani atoll has a bed capacity of 20 in the ICU and 37 isolation beds.

The Covid-19 management facility in Eydhafushi currently has 20 ICU beds and 25 isolation beds.

Further, the facility in Gan island of Laamu atoll has a capacity of 15 ICU beds and 13 isolation beds while the facility in Villingili has 18 ICU beds and five isolation beds.

There are 23 ICU beds and 20 isolation beds in Addu City as well.
