Maldives has condemned the ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads that the government “strongly condemns the ballistic missile and drone attacks” targeting Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

It said that “the continuation of such attacks exhibits the elevated threat to the stability of the region, and indicates the urgent need for constructive engagement by the parties concerned to find peaceful solutions to the conflicts”.

The Maldivian government also reaffirmed its solidarity with the people and government of Saudi Arabia and reiterated its steadfast commitment “to work closely with the international community in the fight against global terrorism”.

According to report, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen had intercepted and destroyed the four missiles and six explosive drones launched by the rebels over the border towards the Gulf country.

The Houthis are to have claimed responsibility for the attack.
