Samples have been collected from 100 individuals in Fuvahmulah City, for Covid-19 testing.

The city hospital revealed that the samples have since been transferred to Addu City via sea ambulance, in order to transfer them for testing, to the capital, Malé City.

While Covid-19 testing is currently conducted only in the capital, authorities are working to make arrangements to conduct testing in outlying atolls as well.

These samples were collected from individuals at shops, cafés and restaurants of the city on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Although no Covid-19 cases have been detected in the city thus far, the city council has strengthened precautionary measures in order to contain the infection.

However, these precautionary measures are now being eased across the city.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) continues to collect samples for random Covid-19 testing, from several regions across the island nation.
