Maldives plans to reopen the country’s main airport, Velana International Airport (VIA), in July.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the reveal during a televised national address on Wednesday night.
While he also noted plans to ease Covid-19 restrictions after the current lockdown ends on May 28, the president announced that a decision to restart international flight at VIA in July has been reached.
Further noting that resorts will also be allowed to reopen as well, Solih said that guidelines for this are being drafted by the relevant institutions.
The president had said that lockdown restrictions will be lifted in phases.
