Minister of Defense and National Security, Mariya Didi has commended the tireless work of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) officers during a time the country is combating the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
As such, speaking during a phone interview with RaajjeTV, the minister noted that MNDF officers are working at the various quarantine and isolation facilities established by the government and that they are also active in the front lines to complete work on the “Covid Village” on a round-the-clock basis.
Although she fills the position of the defense minister today, Mariya highlighted that she would like to express her gratitude towards these tireless work by the officers, “as a citizen”.
Further, she added that MNDF officers are “always ready” to work on the frontlines in any situation the country falls into, and will continue to do so.
This comes at a time officers of the authority had provided timely assistance to the State Trading Organization (STO) in delivering their pending orders including water and essentials.
These efforts by authorities have also drawn immense gratitude and support from the general public, on social media.
While police and MNDF are on the frontlines of the battle against the pandemic, the minister noted that protocols have been established for safety measures. These protocols are being followed, said Mariya.
Highlighting that these officers live separately from their families these days, Mariya noted that they will return back to their families after a quarantine period.
This is a major sacrifice they are making for the people, Mariya added.
